Teens Charged In Mott Avenue Robbery

By Nicholas Briano

Two Far Rockaway teens have been arrested in the robbery of a man on Beach Channel Drive and Mott Avenue last week.

The attack happened on September 11 in front of 13-16 Beach Channel Drive when the two defendants, Jonathan Alonzo, 17, and Tommy Saez, 19, allegedly approached a 19- year-old male and pulled the chain off the victim's neck.

The thieves proceeded to shove the victim to the ground, punching and kicking him, causing minor injuries, according to court documents. It is also reported that the suspects allegedly went through the victim's pockets, but fled with only the chain.

A nearby police officer saw the attack and immediately pursued the defendants who were arrested and charged with second degree robbery, third degree assault and second degree harassment.

According to police, upon his arrest, Alonzo reportedly said, "We were just trying to beat him up."

Both defendants were arraigned on September 12, and held on $7,000 bail.
