BCAC Midget Shamrocks Beat Glen Cove, 7-0

After opening up with a loss to Plainedge 20-0 and a defeat to the loss to Bethpage, 40-19, the BCAC Midget Shamrocks recorded their first victory of the year in beating Glen, 7-0.

The Shamrocks offensive line of Zack Warner, Ray Lamantia, Nick Lupola, James Lee, Kyle Hilgendorf, opened up holes for the running backs. Danny Hoff rushed for 66 yards (55-yard touchdown), Jordan Jessup had 67 yards (60-yard touchdown), Rob Kollmer chipped in with 24 yards, Marco Minichino scored on a 65-yard touchdown for a total of 67 yards.

Minichino also completed 2 of 3 passes for 13 yards and threw an extra point to Mario Cimino. The Shamrock defensive standouts were: Nick Manzi, Matt Trudden, Vinny Finizio, Rob Martin, Ryan Panetta, Patrick Foye, and Keith Servello. A tough Shamrocks defense held Glen Cove to no points as the score was 0-0 at halftime. With the coaches talking at halftime, the Shamrocks' game plan was to power to one side and try to get into the endzone. With the blocking from offensive linemen Nick Lupola, Ray Lamantia, Zack Warner, James Lee, Kyle Hilgendorf, and the Mario Cimino helped the Shamrocks score their only touchdown.

The running game came alive on their scoring drive as Jessup rushed for 39 yards and went into the end zone on a 4-yard touchdown. Danny Hoff rushed for 66 yards, Minichino threw for 13 yards and completed a pass for the 3-yard extra point.

Shamrocks defenders Rob Martin and Minichino stopped Glen Cove's offense on the final drive to hold on for the victory. The next game will be on Saturday at 6 p.m. at BCAC Memorial Field against East Meadow. The Pee- Wees will also play at 4:30 p.m. and the Ponys will start at 8 p.m. Go Shamrocks!
