Disability Awareness Mass At St. Gertrude

St. Gertrude Church will host the second annual Father Downing Disability Awareness Mass on Saturday, September 27 at 4 p.m. All are invited to attend the event. The church and church hall are fully accessible, as are the restrooms.

This is the fifth Disability Awareness Mass in the Rockaways, which comprises most of the Queens South cluster 3 of the RC Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens. People with disabilities will serve as lectors and presenters during the celebration of the importance of people with disabilities in the life of the church.

The event is the culmination of a collaborative effort on the part of the Parish Advocates for People with Disabilities from the churches on the Rockaway peninsula and Broad Channel. Attendance at the Mass fulfills the Sunday obligation.

The parish advocates for people with disabilities from the Queens South Cluster 3 churches acknowledge the generous contribution from the Rockaway Irish Boys.

A reception for mass attendees will be held after the service.
