Lew Cares About Us
Dear Editor, What does Lew do? Well, if you have to ask, your head is in the sand or you never had a problem that needed attention. He has been [helping out] for more than 20 years [that] I have lived here. From the bungalows to Breezy Point, he is everywhere. He is a local guy who cares about us. He should get a raise. Thanks Lew M.

Driving Over All Ages
Driving Over All Ages Dear Editor, I am a parent at Saint Francis de Sales and on the first day of school there was also a seniors meeting scheduled in the gym at 12:30. This was a problem because the first day of dismissal time was 11:30 and the seniors decided to go to their meeting early and had to park in the lot where the students also get dismissed.

Parking For All
Dear Editor, If Daniel Solomon believes that Kim Mannino speaks only for herself when she writes about the outrageously restrictive parking regulations in Rockaway, then he is living in a deliriously privileged bubble (with ample parking space, no doubt). Open your eyes Mr. Solomon. I look forward to a time when your bubble bursts and there's parking for all.

Stalked By The Pooperazzi
Dear Editor, I am writing this letter in response to the article and photos entitled "Rockaway Residents Ignore Beach Regulations" (The Wave, 9/5/08). I must say how humiliating it was to be photographed in that pose. Do people really have that much time on their hands to sit and stalk us dogs and our owners with their cameras?

Walking Under The El
Dear Editor, My principal Mr. O'Connell recently talked to us about walking under the elevated subway line. He instructed us to walk as close to the pillars as possible. As a student of The Scholars' Academy, I believe that students shouldn't even have to walk in the street. Blocks of cement have been known to fall from the el onto the street.

Sarnoff 's Editorial Cartoon
Dear Editor, I found Mr. Sarnoff's editorial cartoon amusing and thought of another governor who was chosen to run as Vice President in the past. Now, admittedly, I read his biography some time ago, but I'm pretty sure my history is correct. This governor of New York had less than two years in office at the time (1900, I believe).

Universal Health Care
Dear Editor, For those who wish for government universal health care for everyone, beware. When the government, be it federal, state, or local when applying it's needed rules for policy and procedure, it can sometimes leave the citizen applicant denied a timely response to requested services. On August 8, I broke my leg.

A Word Or Two About 'Fast Break' Coffee Shop
Dear Editor, "Fast Break" what does it mean? Perhaps it means one can be served with fast food, such as cold cuts with lettuce and tomatoes. My friends let me tell you; Fast Break cooks gourmet style on many different dishes, such as Veal Scaloppini, Roasted Chicken, Lasagna and many different vegetable dishes, roasted potatoes and of course, the owner cooks all the food.

Obama Better Qualified
Dear Editor, In his column, From the Editor's Desk, Howard Schwach found neither major presidential candidate meets the high standards we rightly set for the highest office in the greatest nation in the world. I agree that John McCain's philosophy and experience is not consistent with our nation's current needs.

Reconsidering Mayoral Control
Dear Editor, As the children go back to school, here is something else to think about: mayoral control. In a matter of months, mayoral control will be up for renewal in the City Council and, if passed there, then the State Legislature.

An Honorable Race
Dear Editor, These past weeks I've watched Joe Addabbo run an honorable race based on seven years of solid achievement in the NYC Council. He's been both in the community and at many district doorsteps working to earn our trust.

Addressing Harry Weinstein
Dear Editor, I am responding to Harry Weinstein's comment last week and I find that not only did he disrespect The Wave newspaper, but also questions the opinion of Nicholas Briano and calls him, in others words, a liar for his review of the new diner.
