No Honor Without Loyalty

Dear Editor,

There can be no honor without loyalty and neither Joe Addabbo nor Audrey Pfeffer is honorable. Both sided with the developers and not the community they represent on the rezoning of Beach 115 to Beach 117 Streets. They will tell you that the community board approved it. What they won't tell you is that at the last minute, changes were made for Far Rockaway that didn't have community board approval. But then, Councilman Sanders actually cared enough about his constituency to show up at the City Council Land Use/ Franchise Committee meeting last Tuesday to endorse not only the Far Rockaway change but the upzoning of Beach 116 Street also since he has long been a proponent of affordable housing. Instead, our councilman sent a letter. You can't confront a letter or ask it any questions. Oh, that's right-Joe was attending a fundraiser for his bid against State Senator Maltese that day. How convenient. Good luck on that election, Joe. We'd love to help you get the message to that district of how you value your constituency.

They will also tell you that City Planning approved the re-zoning package, and no change could be made. Funny… the upzoning of Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 104 Street-Beach 106 Street to R74 almost was approved but was changed at the last minute. It seems City Planning makes mistakes despite all the professionals they have on staff and all the research they do. A group of local residents with limited time and resources pointed out repeatedly to City Planning that this up zoning violated the City's own rules of not building near a water treatment plant. Thanks, guys. You saved the taxpayers millions. If you need additional information on that pun, call Jonathan Gaska. He and our elected officials were right on top of that one, too.

Anyone in this town who is thinking of voting for a Democrat ought to re-examine what they have done for us, or should I say, to us. The Democratic machine has sold the Rockaways down the river … again. Audrey Pfeffer and Joe Addabbo have a lot to answer for, as do the people they endorse to replace them.
