Newspaper Or Tabloid

Dear Editor,

As I sat and read the August 23rd edition of the Wave, I wondered to myself, where has journalistic integrity gone? Over the past year the Wave's "Letters to the Editor" section has gone south. What was once informative and sometimes entertaining has now become a forum for unruly individuals to bash people.

I understand that "Letters to the Editor" are supposed to be a MILD form of ranting or opinions by our neighbors. However, you have allowed it to turn into a nasty sounding board, specifically for Hazel McLean, to drag people through the mud.

Maybe the Wave should start factchecking or getting comments from people who are mentioned in her letters to the editor… Allowing Ms. Mc- Lean to use your paper to spew her nonsense, which has now taken the place of her excessive posting of flyers all over the Dayton buildings, assures that the Wave is viewed as nothing more than a tabloid. Taking the words of one individual and then printing said un-researched quotes, which border on slander is a sad commentary about the state of the Wave's journalism.
