JFK Airport Receives DOT Funding

Senators Charles E. Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton announced $2,467,706 in U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) funding for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The grant will support improvements at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

"It is great news that John F. Kennedy International Airport is receiving the money it needs to safely service travelers visiting New York," Senator Schumer said.

"JFK Airport is a critical gateway to our nation, a critical hub for transportation, and a vital resource for New York's economy.

This investment will help ensure that JFK continues to work safely and efficiently as a key component of our transportation infrastructure," said Senator Clinton.

The DOT grant will support the rehabilitation of Runway E at John F. Kennedy International Airport. According to the DOT, the existing pavement is in poor condition, requiring rehabilitation to ensure safe aircraft operations.
