The NYPD held its first Rockaway Resource Day at O'Donohue Park on August 22. Organizations including the Department of Health, the Queens Borough Public Library, Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation and the Addabbo Family Health Center lined the promenade between Beach 15 and 16 Streets to hand out information. There was free food provided by the NYPD and free snow-cones from Millennium Development. The PAL also hosted a basketball tournament for area youth.
Time for a free throw, as the PAL joined with the NYPD to hold and referee several basketball tournaments for different age groups throughout the afternoon.
Youngsters crowded the table where Lowe's employees helped them build birdhouses, basketball hoops and more.

The NYPD cooks up comestibles that include hotdogs, hamburgers and chicken for those who came by O'Donohue Park.
