Classic Ends As Harbor Light Gold Wins Title

The St. Francis Summer Classic completed its 24th season last Thursday night with the Women's Open B Championship. It was a house affair with Harbor Light Gold taking on Harbor Light White.

The first half saw the lead change hands often, and ended with Gold holding a 17-16 lead. Maggie Allen's two three-pointers kept White close each time Gold threatened to pull away.

But Gold had its own outside threat, and when Kerry Ansbro knocked down her fourth trey, the outcome was no longer in doubt, and Gold pulled away for a 42-26 victory and the championship. Maggie Allen finished with 9 for the White.

Ansbro scored 15 points, Skippy Doyle had 10 and Alison Cashen added 8 points for the champion Gold which also included Erin Stack, Jessica Cutrone, Kerry Anderson, Terri McElroy, and Natalie DeSantis.

It was another great year for the Summer Classic and there is great anticipation for next year as we will celebrate our 25th season with many special events.
