SJEH Observes World Breastfeeding Week

Nurses at St. John's Episcopal Hospital observed World Breastfeeding Week, which was held from August 1 through August 7. Celebrated in more than 120 countries around the globe, the 2008 theme was "Mother Support: Going for the Gold," because the week coincided with the Olympics. The celebration addressed the importance of supporting mothers who decide to breastfeed their children. St. John's lactation nurse Debbie Steger-Cohen, RN, displayed information and held a raffle to raise awareness of the healthful effects of breastfeeding for children.
