Arrest Made In Oceancrest Blvd. Shooting
      Police arrested a 20-year-old man last Friday night after a 19-year-old female was shot near Far Rockaway High School. According to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown's office, Anthony Santiago was apprehended after he and another unidentified suspect fled the scene of a shooting in front of 25-31 Oceancrest Boulevard on August 8 at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Determined To Take A Late Swim To Oblivion
     Police officers from the 100 Precinct in Rockaway Park talk to an unidentified man holding on to an ocean jetty on Beach 87 Street on Tuesday evening. The man, who police say, often hangs out in the area with his pit bull, said that he was going to kill himself by jumping into the ocean.

Man Wounded In Mysterious OV Shooting
     Police officers responding to a call of "numerous shots fired" at the central courtyard in the Ocean Village complex on Beach 57 Street on Tuesday morning found little else but a few spent shells and a blood trail leading to one of the buildings. Eventually, cops canvassing the building found a wounded man who, cops say, was not very cooperative in helping to find the shooter. Pictured, police search the complex for clues.

Man Hospitalized In Inwood Assault
      An unidentified 39-year-old man waiting for a bus in Inwood last Friday was seriously injured and taken to St. John's Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway after being assaulted and robbed by a group of men who are still being pursued by Nassau County detectives, according to police officials. It is not known if the assaulted man is a Rockaway resident.

Parks Updates Timeline For Repairing Boardwalk
      New York City's Department of Parks and Recreation has begun following through on promises to repair sections of Rockaway's famed boardwalk, The Wave was told recently. In an e-mail to the newspaper, Parks' representative Trish Bertuccio talked about some of the improvements.

      Incumbent State Senator Shirley Huntley officially launched her campaign for re-election stating that there was "still work to be done" in her 10th Senatorial District, which includes Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, South Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park, Broad Channel, Lindenwood, Howard Beach, and Southeast Queens.
