John J. O'Keefe

Retired

John J. O'Keefe died August 7. He was 79.

O'Keefe played professional hockey for the Johnstown Jets and played on the PAL baseball team representing Queens County at Yankee Stadium in 1946. He joined the NYPD in the 1970s and was admitted to the New York Bar Association in 1961. He earned a "Juris Doctor" degree from New York Law School. After retiring from the NYPD, O'Keefe practiced law in Queens and on Long Island for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Irene and William J. O'Keefe; and brother, Vincent.

O'Keefe is survived by wife, Ruth; and many family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown, New Jersey. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Chapel in New Monmouth, New Jersey.
