Thank You Peninsula Hospital Center

Dear Editor,

Asthma is such a tricky affliction. After living in the West awhile, I hadn't had an episode in a year of any type. Now that I am back in the Rockaways, my asthma has been bothering me because of the high humidity, and not everywhere has air conditioning. Now it crept up on me, on July 31 at 6 a.m. Thank God for the great EMT guys and their quickness getting to my apartment where I was about to keel over and was advised and seriously informed of never to wait and think it will pass little by little. My lungs, neck, throat were closing up and I was crying and immobilized. They brought me into the wonderful emergency room of Peninsula Hospital right in the middle of a change of shift. Well no problem, they all were so close together, they continued to treat me with their x-ray, and taught me the severity of my affliction. They taught me how to take my medicine and that the life I might lead may be my own. They discussed each medicine and the importance of climate, clothing in different seasons and areas. They didn't just send me off; they made sure I was secure, safe, and comfortable at home with starter medication, with calling my own PCP. I wanted to thank them all so much for their time, expertise and bedside manner.
