Runners and walkers from St. John's Episcopal Hospital participated as a team in the Marcum & Kliegman LLP 5K Workplace Challenge that took place on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Jones Beach, New York. More than 25 hospital employees and family took part, walking or running, in the Challenge.

They represented a cross-section of SJEH departments, from Community Mental Health to Security. Their team, along with t-shirts and food, was sponsored by Tudor Packaging Corp.

"What was pretty cool about the race was that we were well represented from various Hospital departments, including housekeepers, doctors, nurses and mental health staff, who really become part of a team," said Terry Geist, Team Co-Captain and Associate Director of the Community Mental Health Center. "It really represented an example of the Hospital's Core Values," he added, which adopted by staff as a guide to working at St. John's, includes teamwork.
