FR Drive-By Shooter Faces Multiple Trials

By Nicholas Briano

A suspected MS-13 gang member who was sitting in a Riker's Island cell awaiting trial in connection with a May drive-by shooting in Far Rockaway in which five men were wounded, has been taken to Nassau County court to face charges stemming from another shooting incident, this one in February at a Westbury night club, according to Nassau County police officials.

In the Westbury shooting, four men were shot, one fatally, in a car outside a nightclub on February 17, according to police officials. Four men have been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Olban Gonzales, 19, one of the four who were arrested, and the alleged shooter in that case, was held in Riker's Island facing New York City charges of gun possession and attempted murder. The charges stem from the May 18 drive-by shooting on Beach 21 Street and Mott Avenue, in which five people were shot when a hail of bullets from a white Jeep showered the pedestrians in front of 1075 Beach 21 Street.

Five others were arrested in connection with the Rockaway shooting.
