Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer and City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. joined officials from the Queens Library to mark the opening of the newly renovated Broad Channel Library with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Both elected officials were strong advocates for a library in Broad Channel and allocated funds to have the facility renovated.

The library, located on Cross Bay Boulevard and East 17 Road, reopened on July 1 and includes plasma televisions and an RFID self check-out system that allows patrons to wait less on line and allows library staff to help more people with general questions. Also included in the renovations are remodeled and redesigned children and adult reading areas.
