Energy And Gangsters
Dear Editor: The following letter was sent on December 19, 2005, informing the reader of increased fuel costs to generate electricity. I know you know and the politicians know that electric energy can be generated by turbines using methane gas from landfills surrounding NYC and Long Island.

Rockaway, A Disaster Attraction
Dear Editor, I agree with the gentleman (letter to the editor - Wake up Rockaway (07/04/08)), people need to wake up and see what we are drawing into our neighborhoods. Yes the vendors on Beach 116, 98, and 129 Streets all make good profits, but at the residents' cost.

Use Adult Words
Dear Editor, Yes, I do read Stu's columns. I am hopeful that whatever party wins the presidential election, we lose the innocuous "flip-flopping" and "in harm's way." These infantile expressions have served only to underscore what has been a remarkably lackluster and often horrendous administration. Americans must lose these teeny-bopper allusions. Alternatives?

No Air Conditioning For Seniors
Dear Editor, Rockaway Beach Seaside Senior Center on 90 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard has had no air conditioning for over one month. I called 311 and wrote a letter to Mayor Bloomberg a month ago. We are headed for our second heat wave in one month. That is a sad and dangerous example of not caring for your senior citizens in the Rockaway area.

Parking Illegally
Dear Editor, I'm a resident of Dayton Towers West 103-00 Shore Front Parkway. I would like to know why it is alright for people coming to the beach on weekends, to park on SFP on the beach side where the sign reads NO PARKING AT ANYTIME. The cars are there all day Saturday and Sunday.

The Fine Print Of The Stimulus Payment
Dear Editor, For the last few months we have been bombarded by the T.V. and newspapers about a stimulus payment, that is a bonus from Uncle Sam to stimulate the shaggy economy. They advertise, loud and clear, that every adult is entitle to $600, with a qualified dependent child receiving $300, a couple with two children will receive $1,800.

Remove R7A From Re-zoning Project
Dear Editor, Last week's tragic drowning on Beach 116 Street only highlights the shortcomings of traffic on that street. The street was filled with fire trucks, police and emergency vehicles and was eventually closed to traffic. If there are shortcomings now, can you imagine the conditions once the block is almost entirely re-zoned R7A?

In Agreement With McCaffery
Dear Editor, As a legal professional, I couldn't agree more with the letter posted this week by Brian McCaffery. I mentioned to Sandy Bernstein, that the Shapiro ad gives the appearance of professional advice. When her credentials are unknown and her opinion is nothing more than self-serving puffery. For all we know, Ms.

It Is Time For Change Richards For '08
Dear Editor, For the past month, I have had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of people while petitioning to be on the Democratic ballot in the upcoming September 9 primary. Yet, I found it odd that only one out of every 30 people actually knew who their assemblyperson was and what role an assemblyperson played in their community.

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words
Dear Editor: As a weekly reader of The Wave, I cannot agree more with the letter to the editor from Tia Ivory, classmate of Patrick Hernandez. To see gruesome pictures or stories about young people killing each other on the front page of the paper every week is devastating.

Biking Safely
Dear Editor, Here are some suggestions on possible stories to put in your next issue. The first is cars speeding on Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 125 Street and Beach 149 Street. There are also safety issues and red light running at Beach 129 Street, Beach 135 Street, and Beach 149 Street on Rockaway Beach Boulevard.

Have You Thanked A Lifeguard?
Dear Editor, I wholeheartedly agree with Serg Cusmiani. We should all thank a lifeguard whenever they do a good job. The lifeguards mentioned in the Friday, July 25, 2008 edition did an outstanding job. We should also let them know along with their lieutenants when they are not doing a good job.

The Wounded Warrior Rehab Center
Dear Editor, Something a few of us have thought about for a few years. Now would be a good time to OPEN the old Neponsit Nursing home as a REHAB facility for our WOUNDED WARRIORS. These veterans would have the oceanfront for exercise, great air quality all year round and many Rockaway people to lend their services as volunteer, to a regular staff.

Veterans Appreciate Rockaway's Support
Dear Editor, Thank you for the center page color photos showing the citizens of Rockaway turning out to show support for our wounded members of the Armed Forces. This proves that many people are showing their appreciation of our servicemen and women, even if it means welcoming them into their own homes.

Thoroughly Impressed
Dear Editor, My fiancée and I celebrated our engagement party at Kennedy's restaurant in Breezy Point this past weekend. To say that we were thoroughly impressed with our party would be an understatement! The manager and staff at Kennedy's were sincere and considerate in all of their efforts to entertain our guests.

Its My Turn
The Court Got It Right on Guns
Sheldon Richman is senior fellow at The Future of Freedom Foundation (www.fff.org) and editor of The Freeman magazine. Advocates of freedom dodged a bullet when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5- 4 that the right to keep and bear arms, the subject of the Second Amendment, is an individual, not a collective, right.
