Beach 74 Street from Rockaway Beach Boulevard to Shore Front Parkway will soon become a one-way street.

While the original plan was to have the traffic flow southbound, towards the beach, complaints by local residents that the street would replace the much wider Beach 73 Street as a thoroughfare, increasing traffic, the city changed its mind and decided to flow the traffic northbound, towards Rockaway Beach Boulevard instead.

That decision will maintain the pattern of one street southbound and the adjoining street northbound in that area.

The transition from two-way to one-way traffic will allow for new angle-parking stalls that will be installed on the west curb of Beach 74 Street, greatly increasing the parking spaces for residents of the Arverne By The Sea developoment. a
