The regular season of the St. Francis Summer Classic is coming to a close and the playoffs are getting underway. In Women's Open A basketball action, Erin White returned the favor on the Hot Mommas after losing the season finale to them on a buzzer beater. The Sixth Annual Graybeards Family Run tips off tonight, Friday July 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Rockaway Beach Boulevard and Beach 128 Street. The Family Run is one of the highlight events of the summer in Rockaway. Over 500 runners participated last year with hundreds more joining in the post-race festivities. The Police Athletic League (PAL) launched its 2008 Summer Program in Queens on Monday, July 7 through Friday, August 22. New York City youngsters play traditional sidewalk games, develop their creativity through the arts, and learn from a wide range of educational, recreational and cultural arts specialists. More ... Fontbonne Hall Academy recently held its Eighth Annual Golf and Pool Outing at the Richmond County Country Club. Everyone enjoyed a sunny and beautiful day, superior prizes, delicious food and good company. Alumni, faculty, family and friends of Fontbonne Hall came out to support the event. Rain fell all over the tri-state area and Hurricane Dolly wreaked havoc on the East Coast, but the Rockaway Beach Volleyball League once again enjoyed balmy weather at Riis Park and a lovely evening afterward.
