Family Justice Center To Aid Domestic Violence Victims
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown joined the mayor on Tuesday, July 15 to open the Family Justice Center.
The Queens Center will streamline handling of domestic violence cases, making the reporting and resolution of cases easier and less stressful for victims.
"The Family Justice Center will allow the victims of domestic violence and their families to find all of the help that they need at this one central location. It will save them precious time and reduce the emotional and physical wear and tear on their lives as they seek the counseling, support and legal resources that they deserve," Brown said.
In 1997 the D.A.'s office was able to secure a Federal Violence Against Women Grant that allowed it to establish a separate Domestic Violence Bureau to handle the bulk of the cases.
