"The Hammel Playground was funded by $142,360 provided by Mayor Bloomberg," said Trish Bertuccio, a spokesperson for the Parks Department, in an email. "The renovation was completed in May 2008 and included new basketball courts, play equipment and safety surfacing, swings, a water fountain and a spray shower."
Bertuccio added that the agency is finalizing a contract to renovate the comfort station, which is being funded by a $250,000 allocation from Councilman James Sanders Jr.
