Broad Channel Park was a-buzz with activity last Saturday as State Senator Shirley Huntley hosted the 2008 Children First Festival. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation Department provided games and face painting; a DJ kept the music going throughout the afternoon and dance contest winners received free New York Mets tickets. There were also free hamburgers, hot dogs, ices, cotton candy and drinks for all.

Members of the Broad Channel Volunteer Fire Department were there in case anyone, like this reporter, had an accident. Thanks for your help guys.
