Breezy Point 4th Annual Biathlon This Saturday

The Breezy Point Biathlon, which has become a staple on each year's community racing calendar, is set to take place on Saturday, July 12th at 10 a.m.

The race, which consists of a 1.5 mile run, 3 mile bike, and 0.35 mile run, offers a unique and scenic course that runs through Breezy Point and Roxbury. The event's starting line is at the Breezy Point Sugar Bowl (corner of Bedford Avenue and Joseph Stehn Promenade).

The Breezy Point Biathlon is a race that caters to any age group and athletic ability. Last year's race featured 196 participants of all ages and ability levels. You can register on the day of the race from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Sugar Bowl. Registration fee is $20 prior to July 12th and $25 the day of the race.

The event is in memory of Bill Mullaly, a Breezy Point resident who passed away in the fall of 2006. Bill was heavily involved in the Breezy Point community's many events and the organization of Mardi Gras weekend. Two scholarships will be awarded to high school students from the Breezy Point area.

The post-race festivities at the Sugar Bowl features Ludwigs Catering and the music of Underground Sounds.
