Nicholson's Nine Captures RLL Minors Championship

During a little league season where good weather was not always the norm, this championship game was played on a picturesque Friday evening. It featured the two top teams from the Rockaway Little League Minors Division, Freedhand & Freedhand taking on Nicholson's Nine.

Going into the contest, Freedhand & Freedhand was undefeated, while Nicholson's Nine's lone loss was a tough one-run game to Freedhand,

The two teams battled back and forth all game long as neither team refused to back down. Going into the top of the sixth inning with one run lead, Nicholson's Nine players Ryan Moran, Noah Nicholson and Georgie Clark each provided key RBI singles to help their team gain a four run lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Nicholson's Nine closer Johnny O' Connor came into game and got the final three outs to secure the 11-7 victory and the league championship.

Tommy Liable, Clark and O' Connor provided excellent pitcher. Ryan Moran led the offense with three hits, three steals and scored three runs. Tommy Collins, Jimmy O' Sullivan and Matt Papparelli also helped spark the win with clutch hits and good base running.

The Nicholson's Nine players and coaches would like to thank Marty Andresen, John Duggan, the umpire and everyone else who helps to make the Rockaway Little League the success it is.
