SJEH Hosts Development Board
The Development Board of St. John's Episcopal Hospital held its annual meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the Lawrence Village Country Club. The Development Board members are committed to improving the quality of healthcare services at the hospital and work together to raise funds to purchase lifesaving medical and diagnostic equipment.
Last year, the Development Board held the Chrysanthemum Ball, the Annual Golf Tournament, which due to inclement weather was rescheduled to July 21, and the 2nd Annual Ocean Walk. In 2007/2008, the Board contributed more than $340,000 to the hospital. These funds purchased a telemetry system, stretchers for the Emergency Department (funded by the Roslyn Savings Foundation), picnic tables for doctors and staff, an SJK Listening Therapy Cart (funded by a grant from the Five Towns Kiwanis Club) and provided monies toward the renovation of the Obstetrics/Gynecology and post-partum areas.
In order to enhance education for the nursing staff, the Development Board also funded the Distinguished Nurse Lecture Series, which more than 100 staff members attended.
