Right, the bakery is stocked and ready-to-go, and you can see the stairway leading to an entire other floor of this establishment. The Rockaway Diner is now open for business, opening on July 9, 2008. This two-story complex swings you into the past with a 1950s theme. Bright red seats are surrounded by posters of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, jukeboxes, and servers that appear straight out of a 1950s movie. Located on Beach 116 Street, the Rockaway Diner is a new fun and upbeat addition to the community.
|Below, the waitresses and bus boys are ready to serve, dressed up to match the theme of the diner, the boys with bow ties and girls with ribbons in their hair. This set up is a perfect table for two, fully equipped with stools that look like something straight out of Grease. For a greater effect, check out the older-style ketchup and mustard bottles. A jukebox shines in the back as Elvis sings in the front. The booths are inviting and plentiful, as Marilyn Monroe looks on from a poster. |
