Fighting Violence In Video Games

New legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Michele R. Titus has been passed to help tighten restrictions on the sale of video games to minors. The bill requires that video game consoles sold here contain "parental controls" to allow parents to screen and block access to adult content. It also requires that video games carry a rating to inform parents about the game's content.

The bill also established the Advisory Council on Interactive Media and Youth Violence. The council addresses the impact of media on minors, reviews the rating system and gives students early intervention and advocacy against youth violence.
