4th Annual Breezy Point Biathlon Set for 7/12

The Breezy Point Biathlon has become a staple on each year's community racing calendar.

The race, which consists of a 1.5 mile run, 3 mile bike, and 0.35 mile run, offers a unique and scenic course that runs through Breezy Point and Roxbury.

The event is set to take place Saturday, July 12th at 10 a.m. with the starting line at the Breezy Point Sugar Bowl (corner of Bedford Avenue and Joseph Stehn Promenade). The Breezy Point Biathlon is a race that caters to any age group and athletic ability. With reasonable distances and a flat course, it is inviting for both the recreational and competitive athlete. Last year's race featured 196 participants of all ages and ability levels.

If you would like an application, please call Ryan Woerner at 718-757- 4669. You can also register on the day of the race from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Sugar Bowl. Registration fee is $20 prior to July 12th and $25 the day of the race.

The event is in memory of Bill Mullaly, a Breezy Point resident who passed away in the fall of 2006. Bill was heavily involved in the Breezy Point community's many events and the organization of Mardi Gras weekend.

We hope Bill's spirit of philanthropy and athletic participation will live on through the Bill Mullaly Memorial Scholarship, which is the primary benefactor of the race's proceeds.

Two scholarships will be awarded to high school students from the Breezy Point area that has shown a commitment to athletic involvement and community service.

Please come out to the Sugar Bowl on July 12th to participate in this great race and enjoy the post-race festivities featuring Ludwigs Catering and the music of Underground Sounds.
