New York Junior Tennis League Offers Free Lessons

The New York Junior Tennis League is offering a free tennis lesson program to children ages 6-18 in the community.

Trained coaches provide a comprehensive schedule of instruction, practice and play for all levels. Players develop their skills, make new friends, and learn the rules and sportsmanship of the game of tennis.

The summer tennis season started on June 30 and will conclude on August 22. Parents can register their children at the two locations to be held in Rockaway. Bayswater Park, located on Beach 32 Street & Dickens Avenue, will have sessions from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Beach Channel High School, located at 100-00 Beach Channel Drive, will have afternoon sessions from Monday to Friday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Registration is ongoing during the season. If it rains, the program is cancelled. Racquets and balls are provided at the center. Children should wear sneakers.

Special events and trips highlight the tennis season such as the Mayor's Cup Scholastic Tennis Tournament, a tennis carnival with games and prizes, and a trip to the Arthur Ashe Kids Day at the US Open. For more information, call 718-786-7110 x8126.
