Flynn&Flynn had mediocre attendance at practices and games, which played a large part in our .500 regular season, In only one regular season game did the team have a 100% attendance.
The post-season play-off and championship games sparked a renewed commitment toward practice and game responsibility as the girls heeded the coaches' instructions pep talks. It gave confidence to the girls and the results showed with positive results in the field and at the bat.
In the first playoff game against J and E Industries, Flynn&Flynn gave a 100% effort is they out-fielded and outscored J&E for a 13-4 win.
The next game was the start of a best of three series against #1 seed Seaway Marine Corp. on June 24. The series started with 14 girls of Flynn &Flynn hungry for a win. To the delight of her teammates, coaches and family, Kimberly Keane swung the bat and connected with two RBI's to shock Seaway.
Her effort spirited Flynn &Flynn to a 12-6 win.
The second game of the series was held on June 26 and to the delight of coaches Bill Murphy and Jim Hurley, the entire Flynn&Flynn team were present and itching to win the series.
Seaway held a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third inning but they could not withstand the explosive bats of the opposition.
Flynn exploded for seven runs with Ashley Raaf, Becky O'Connor, Maegan Reed, Jackie Gillen, Cat Murphy just a few of the players providing the big offense.
By the top of the fifth inning, Flynn's 18-8 lead was enough to invoke the mercy rule, which then crowned the team the Major Girls Championship.
Family and friends was on hand, including former teammates Becky Resner, Kyra Meli and last year's sponsor Rich Resner to congratulate the team on their accomplishment.
