Neponsit and Belle Harbor Residents, We Live Here Too!!

Dear Editor, (Could you please direct this letter to Mr. Daniel Soloman who wrote in favor of upholding the parking regulations in your 6/27/08 edition)

Attention Mr. Solomon and limited followers, this is 2008!!!! The parking regulations enforced upon us from 5/15 until 9/30 on weekends and holidays affect the Rockaway residents MORE than daily non-resident beach goers!!!! Please take you head out of your "pristine setting" and be considerate of your neighbors in Rockaway Park as well!!! Yes, we may not have the upscale designation of Belle Harbor, (where does that area begin actually) or Neponsit, but Rockaway Park residents are hard-working middle class residents who pay a lot for their mortgages or rents to be able to enjoy this beachfront community only to have ridiculous rules bestowed upon us by associations and a few residents in Belle Harbor/ Neponsit.

I doubt if by lifting these parking regulations, that anyone would urinate on your front lawn and if they do, then they should be issued a summons or better yet, why don't you build a fence or a wall around your property to keep it's "pristine setting"? FYI, there are no public restrooms and/or bathhouses west of Beach 116 Street, but us residents of Rockaway Park deal with it without any complaints, And the Parks Department has cut their manpower in the AM cleaning ALL the beaches, not just yours.

I have an idea, if you are soooooooo concerned about keeping our beaches clean, why not start an "Adopt-abeach" program (like the adopt-a highway program) and help to keep YOUR beach clean which has nothing to do with parking on the streets.

And by the way, have you driven down the peninsula to Beach 116 Street to see all the residents who park their vehicles on Beach 116 Street on Sundays, all day and night, which doesn't allow for anyone to shop there, in our community on Sundays?? Oh but, all those business owners who suffer on Sunday doesn't bother you either, right?

Yes, there is a "myriad" of concerned Rockaway Park residents that are in favor of abolishing the present parking rules on OUR NYC PUBLIC streets which border OUR NYC PUBLIC beaches and not one of us residents are trying to be just like Coney Island either!!!

I completely disagree with her letter.

I cannot say more. Finding a parking spot on weekends east of 116 street is impossible. Something should be done about this.
