Big Apple Games Offer Free Summer Recreational Programs
The Big Apple Games is a free summer recreational program conducted by the New York City Department of Education and the Public School Athletic League that will be held at Far Rockaway High School starting on Monday, July 7.
The program gives schoolchildren the opportunity to take part in a number of activities during the summer months.
The High School Teen Center program will operate from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and an evening session occurring from 6 to 9 p.m.
Students can get involved in the various sports that will be offered such as wrestling, volleyball, basketball, softball, floor hockey, gymnastics and others. Game room activities, swimming and arts and crafts will also take place for students in grades 9 to 12.
A high school football camp, which will offers instruction, weightlifting, conditioning and agility training will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Players who are in grades 9-12 who are currently playing high school football and live in the peninsula are invited to attend.
