PS 104 Students Become Published Authors
Second and fourth grade students at P.S. 104 are continuing a tradition of becoming published authors. With the help of their teachers and Nationwide Learning Incorporated, students created hard-cover books that were shared with other grades.
Children in the second grade collaborated with their teachers to create a single book which, after publishing, goes into the classroom library. This year the CORE Knowledge
Curriculum inspired two of the classes to write about China and Japan. Other classes predicted their future.
The fourth grade project reinforced the students' ability to use the writing process. Each child chose subject matter about which to write an individual story. The children illustrated their own stories which varied in genre, depending on each child's interests.
