Domestic Dispute Leads to Fallen Cop


A domestic dispute in the BP gas station at Beach Channel Drive and Dix Avenue in Far Rockaway on Wednesday, June 18 led to two arrests and a police officer treated at a local hospital for breathing difficulties. It all began about noon, with the unidentified officers receiving a call of a domestic dispute at Redfern Avenue and Dix Avenue. Responding officers found two men, one with a bat and another with a knife, arguing on the street. They chased the two men to the gas station, where they reportedly turned on the cops. In attempting to subdue one of the unidentified men by using mace, one of the police officers inadvertently received a dose of the mace and began to have difficulty breathing. An ambulance was called and the officer was treated on the scene and then taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
