Break-In Destroys Stained-Glass Beth-El Window
Cops Speculate: Vandals Or Criminals
     Somebody used a construction board to break a valuable stained-glass window on the first floor of Temple Beth-El Synagogue on Beach 121 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard on Friday, June 13. Officials at the synagogue speculated that the vandalism was done by teens looking for something to do, but police speculate that somebody may have been trying to enter the building to rob it.

Domestic Dispute Leads to Fallen Cop
     A domestic dispute in the BP gas station at Beach Channel Drive and Dix Avenue in Far Rockaway on Wednesday, June 18 led to two arrests and a police officer treated at a local hospital for breathing difficulties. It all began about noon, with the unidentified officers receiving a call of a domestic dispute at Redfern Avenue and Dix Avenue. Responding officers found two men, one with a bat and another with a knife, arguing on the street. They chased the two men to the gas station, where they reportedly turned on the cops.

Off-Track-Betting Is Revived
      State Democrats have unanimously voted to pass legislation to avoid shutting down the organization and approving a state takeover of the facility. They will create an entity called the New York City Off-Track-Betting (NYC OTB) that will oversee the 68 OTB parlors throughout New York City.
