Support Beach 97 Street Lifeguards

Dear Editor,

Another summer is upon us and for those of you who know the corrupt management aka union officials that run the Lifeguard program for NYC are probably aware of what an insurmountable task it is to try and get anything changed.

Please visit and offer up support to the Beach 97 Street lifeguards - they are being punished due to my activism. Prior to my outspokenness, the lifeguards always had three assigned per chair - this summer as in last summer, the Beach 97 Street area lifeguards are making rescues and do not have enough lifeguards assigned to the shack to effectively cover the beaches. It is very disheartening to the lifeguards in this busy section with lots of rescues yet not enough partners, to see their friends who cover Belle Harbor have more than enough lifeguards assigned to their chairs.

The Beach 97 Street lifeguards are being extremely undermanned from Beach 96 Street to Beach 102 Street again. Last summer they undermanned the area and they are doing it again.

So please call 311 to log a complaint. Another call to make is to the local councilman, Joseph Addabbo. The councilman's number is 718-738- 1111.
