Fire Forces OV Residents From Their Homes

Ocean Village residents stand outside their apartment building waiting for the fire department to declare the building safe enough for them to go back inside. At right: More than a dozen fire units responded at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, to a sixth floor fire at 141 Beach 56 Place, part of the Ocean Village houses. Police officials called a mobilization that brought more than 50 police officers for crowd control and traffic duty. No major injuries were reported and the fire was quickly put under control before it could spread to adjacent floors. Fire officials say that the fire heavily impacted three apartments.
