Historical Views of the Rockaways

How Many Bungalows Were Built In The Rockaways Of Yore?
From The Rockaway Museum Commentary by Emil Lucev,Curator Dedicated To The Memory Of Leon S. Locke

Several times in the past yours truly has stated that I have never tried to get an accurate count of how many bungalows were built in the whole of the Rockaways of yore!

Only recently that question has been asked of me, and I think I have found a logical way to accomplish this task. What I have decided to do should give me a total, within reason, as available data have time gaps impossible to accurately fill!

When completed there will be an announcement in The Wave asking Wave readers to make a guess.

A point spread will be published after we come up with a figure to help with your guess!

Today's view is of Beach 40 Street in Edgemere and the image was produced in 1925, and shows that both sides of the street were lined with attractive looking summer bungalows.

Just to the left of dead center on the card is a model "T" Ford truck. This is possibly an Iceman's Home Delivery truck, and, I wonder if it is my grandfather's icetruck?
