Rose Marie Finley
Rose Finley, a longtime Rockaway resident, died May 22.
Finley, a nurse, was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina on July 23, 1935. She attended Bethel AME Church, Macedonia Church, and the First Church of God in Christ. She relocated to Virginia and became a member of Word For Living Church of God in Christ, where she served on the missionary board, mother's board and was the president of the Culinary Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucy Rebecca Stancell; and son, Lewis Robert Finley.
Finley is survived by her children, Rosalynne Shaw and Gwendolyn Finley; grandchildren, Roxanne Moorer and Norman Shaw Jr.; sisters, Laney Young, Lorraine, Ruby and Eunice Connor; brothers, Ernest, Jeffrey and John Connor; family adopted sister, District Missionary Marie Darby Hubert; sisters-in-law, Barbara Connor, Anna Mae Scott and Janie Rienzie; brothers-in-law, Loui Rienzi and Darrell Stancell Sr.; aunts, Lucille Hunt and Okarita Howser; godchildren, Shelia Connor James, Naiomi Sloss Cross, James Green and Missionary Carol Rivers; friend, Alberta Corwise; two church families and pastors, superintendents Moses Greens and Larry C. Miles Sr.; and friends and family members.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to March Funeral Homes in Richmond, Virginia. Services and final arrangements were entrusted to the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Funeral Home. Interment was at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, New York.
