John Costello, a 50-year Rockaway resident, died May 30.
Costello was born in Brooklyn. He served in the US Army during World War II. He worked with the Communication Division of the New York Police Department, shield # 13011. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW of Roxbury Post #8540.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cusack Costello; daughters, Mary Curley, Susan Scott, Irene French, and Barbara King; brothers, Francis and Robert Costello; grandchildren, John, Beth, Michael, Timothy, Charles, Leigh Ann, Thomas, Kaitlyn, Kerry, Brian, and Meaghan; and great-grandchildren Jack and Dylan.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Services were held at St. Thomas More Church. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
