Anecdote Of Kindness

Dear Editor,

I know so many people have so much to say about our Rockaway's Lew Simon, our Democratic District Leader, so here is my say!

We have only been back in New York and our Rockaway nine months now! After living in Nevada for a few years, a death in the family, re-locating, getting one daughter up to Nyack College, with a scholarship and a loan, no place to start a job, and no place to live we had so many prayers! With the help of so few, but great people, such as Toni and Diane, various part-time jobs would lead to new ones, and also the great and wonderful people of the Rockaway Park Hotel, Ashley and Robert. Finally getting our new place with the gratitude of God, not to be a burden on anyone, Lew Simon asked how it was going and I said "OK, you know, a little at a time." Well needless to say, he helps Republicans and Democrats and hooked us up with a 1-800- Mattress and Joe V. and a sales representative NAT Terry BB, people whom I did not know. But on May 13, 2008, a full size and twin set of orthopedic beds were delivered to our apartment, for free! Lew never told anyone else what he did for us, so we are!

We should all know more about the people we talk about, and be grateful for people like Lew Simon who cares about all across the peninsula.

COLLEEN
