SJEH Names Higgins As Nurse Manager
Denise G. Higgins, RN, BSN, MS, has been named nurse manager of the Emergency Department by St. John's Episcopal Hospital. Ms. Higgins has worked as assistant nurse manager of the Emergency Department since 2006.
"We are very pleased to have Denise Higgins as the nurse manager of our Emergency Department," said Lynore Dupiton, RN, vice president of Patient Care Services at St. John's. "Denise is a caring and organized manager who is eager to begin new initiatives for the care of our patients," Dupiton added.
Higgins has been a nurse since 1988. She has managerial, instructional, and clinical experience in emergency care, maternal-child health, medical/ surgical and ambulatory care in both hospital and clinic settings. Prior to coming to St. John's Episcopal Hospital, she worked at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City as a staff nurse in maternal/child health. She has also worked at St. Mary's Hospital-St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Brooklyn.
She has served as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York Borough of Manhattan Community College since 2007. She received her BSN degree from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY, and an MS degree in nursing/ healthcare management from Long Island University, also in Brooklyn, NY.
Higgins is a member of the New York Association of Healthcare Quality and the New York Organization of Healthcare Executives.
