Joseph Nathaniel Cox,Sr.

Joseph Cox Sr., a Rockaway resident, died May 18. He was 94.

Cox was born in Coffeeville, Alabama on December 2, 1913. He became onair personality "Bro. Jonathan Joe Crane," and founded "The Gospel Highway" radio show. He produced and directed programming for more than 50 years on local stations in New York and New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; daughter, Sandra; and brother, Floyd.

Cox is survived by his brother, Lloyd; children, Ronald, Carmelita, Joseph and Brenda; grandchildren, Sahara, Carmelita, Monica, Tony, Julie, Terence, Joseph and Sandra Marie; great-grandchildren, Ondine and Anise; sisters-in-law, Glennie and Mary; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jeremiah C. Gaffney Funeral Home. Visitation and services were held at the United Temple Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Interment was at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.
