Valuable Suggestions For New Commuter Ferry

Dear Editor,

As a longtime resident of Rockaway, I was very interested to read about the new commuter ferry service. I think it would be much more useful if the ferry began at Beach 116 Street since it is the main street for shopping with bus and subway connections. At Riis Landing there is little in the area and it is hard to reach. From Beach 116 Street there should be a direct route to Pier 11 and then on to East 34 Street via high-speed ferry, not a fishing boat. Should there be a need for an evacuation, this is the most efficient means and route. Another idea is to have service begin at JFK, then on to Beach 116 Street in Rockaway and Manhattan. Eli Siegel, founder of the education Aesthetic Realism, has defined good will as "the desire to have something else stronger and more beautiful, for this desire makes oneself stronger and more beautiful." With the new housing that has and will be built in Rockaway, many more people will be needing efficient transportation which will give greater ease and pleasure to their lives. This would be good will for an increasing number of residents and visitors.
