Rockaway Outdoors/Tales From The Wheel House
      The full moon and surrounding phases saw a spike in both the size and amount of stripers caught in our area. Even with the turbulent weather over the weekend, and earlier in the week, stripers were landed throughout Jamaica Bay and the surrounding areas. At times, the bass even out-muscled the bluefish among the bunker schools.

Rockaway Ravens Seek Players, Cheerleaders
      The Rockaway Ravens will continue spring registration this Saturday for their youth football and cheerleading program. Registration will take place on Saturday, at the Far Rockaway High School athletic field, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Ravens are inviting those young players from 12 to 15 years old to come and join one of the top football programs in the city.

Boys'Real Madrid Squad Finishes At Top Of PC League
      The Peninsula regular season came to a close last week with the fourth and fifth grade boys from Real Madrid claiming the best record in the league. Their 8-1-0 mark earned 24 points and a first round bye in the playoffs. On the girls' side, 6-8 AC Milan and 2-3 FC Barcelona had the highest point totals with 19 each.

Host Lady Dolphins Tops Lions
      As a middle school teacher at Channel View Academy, located inside of the Beach Channel High School Complex, Sam Innes didn't know much about the sport of lacrosse three years ago. But when a grant was awarded to the school, he would help to initiate the Beach Channel/Channel View Girls Lacrosse program with some equipment and bag of plastic sticks to play with.

Beach Channel Splashes Goals In Peninsula Victory
      When Dominic Stanco returned to his car late Tuesday afternoon, the Beach Channel girls' soccer coach was completely drenched from head to toe from the driving torrential rains. But instead of worrying about chills future worries about pneumonia, Stanco was smiling after his Lady Dolphins had just finished playing their last PSAL regular season with a flourish.
