Create An Informative "A"Line
For once I saw a letter in The Wave complaining about the "A" line. I have been trying to get the powers that be to improve announcements on the line without success.
When I was a conductor in 1974, I always announced the destination of the train starting at 59 Street. Ablue book was issued around 1993, that boroughs were the policy.
Queens bound E, F, G, N, R, J and M lines have one terminal, but the "A" actually has three during the rush hours.
Conductors are supposed to be on their trains two minutes before leaving the terminal, so it is impossible to check signs. The R44 digital readings are not always correct.
I hope your local politicians bring this issue to MTA New York Transit so that announcements on the A line can be more informative.
