Dear Editor, In Rockaway Park we endure harsh winters, few shopping malls, and no parks. Just for the great outdoors on our great beaches. Locally for three years, one begged, called to no avail for a small ramp at 103-00 Shore Front Parkway. These steps via the beach forbid any senior taking a trip to the beach, so one must remain homebound. More ... Dear Editor, Congratulations on getting funding for the Rockaway - BAT ferry service. I have taken the Bay Ridge/Sunset Park ferry, when it has been available, since 1986. Of all the ferry companies who have provided this service TWFM Ferry has been the best. More ... Dear Editor, The next time that you and Linda Feinstein want to insult an entire community (Beachcomber 5/2/08) I would suggest the following changes. Substitute "Sea-Gate" for "Breezy Point" and "Jewish" for "Irish." JOHN J. More ... Dear Editor, Good job, where it counts… How wonderful for Audrey Pheffer to assist a school on 104 Street with a new traffic light and receiving one, my, my, that was quick. I wonder what Saint Rose has to do in order for a light up by their school on Shore Front Parkway, oh wait, they tried everything. More ... Dear Editor, With the continuing construction of homes in the Rockaways and thousands of new residents who will reside in them, mass transport by subway and the means of making it faster, safer, and cleaner should be a priority. For some unknown political reason, a ferry boat was chosen to spend a lot of money on so a few elite could possibly adjust to an awkward schedule. More ... Dear Editor, On Tuesday evening, the Community Board approved the re-zoning plan for the peninsula, which includes the proposed upzoning of the beach blocks of Beach 115 thru 117 Street to an R7A. The next step in the ULURP process is to secure approval from our borough president, Helen Marshall on Thursday, May 22 at 10:30 at Queens Borough Hall. More ... Dear Editor, Presidential campaigns can never again be based on race bating, and distortions, or failure to keep campaign promises. Nor is there any excuse for a Senator like John McCain to have hired a campaign finance manager, who headed a firm paid $200,000 to give away one of the largest U.S. Defense contracts in U.S. History to France. More ... Dear Editor, I'm living in Rockaway Park with three large pharmacies locally. When calling Medicare inquiring if my blood testing supplies were covered, none of these stores was listed. It seems that one has to go to a Brooklyn chemist for this service, for diabetes supplies. More ... Dear Editor, I am writing in response to former Dayton Beach Park #1 Board President Joanne Smith's letter to The Wave regarding Democratic Leader's Lew Simon's presence at our Board Meeting. There were a number of inaccuracies in her letter and I would like to publicly address them as Mr. Simon is being unfairly attacked for standing up for Dayton's shareholders. More ... Dear Editor, In regards to your misleading and insulting article entitled "Drinking at the Public Trough. More ... Dear Editor, This past Sunday there was a story in the Daily News regarding the old court house in Rockaway Beach. As usual the plans for this wonderful old building had fallen through. The plans for the old structure becoming a CUNY mini campus were being scrapped. More ... Dear Editor, We give thanks to all of you who have supported us through the thirty something years that Billy has had this addiction. We have relied on your support many times in these years. We are grateful that he died in the presence of my sister Karen and that he went peacefully. More ... Dear Editor, I would like to respond to a letter in the May 16 edition of the WAVE from Joanne Smith, former president of Dayton Beach Park. Your accusation as to who invited me to the meeting concerning Dayton Beach Park's unpaid water bills was unfounded. Maybe you have been misinformed. More ... Dear Editor, For once I saw a letter in The Wave complaining about the "A" line. I have been trying to get the powers that be to improve announcements on the line without success. When I was a conductor in 1974, I always announced the destination of the train starting at 59 Street. Ablue book was issued around 1993, that boroughs were the policy. More ... |
