Police officers from the 100 Precinct and the NYPD's Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at 82-03 Beach Channel Drive in the Hammel Houses on Wednesday evening, seizing a cache of drugs and guns and arresting Ramon Collins.

Police sources allege that Collins is involved in gang activity and in the drug trade at the public housing complex and was wanted for parole violation.

"Because [Collins] is known to carry a firearm and has been implicated in numerous recent shootings within the 100 Precinct, emergency services was requested to assist in the takedown," a police source said.

When police arrived, Collins was seen throwing a bag out the rear window. The bag was recovered and held two loaded firearms and a bag of narcotics, sources say.

Asearch of the apartment revealed bags of marijuana and live rounds.

The operation was commanded by Captain Thomas Barrett, the commanding officer of the 100 Precinct.

A spokesperson for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that Collins was awaiting arraignment and that the charges against him were still under investigation.
