Employees Out Of Control

Dear Editor,

I just read last week's article about the fight at the new Rite Aid Pharmacy. I was there. I went to the store hoping to have a great new pharmacy in Rockaway and was greatly disappointed. The cashier was too busy laughing and joking with her coworkers to say hello to me when I came up to pay. When I questioned one of the prices, she was completely unreceptive to the possibility that the item might be on sale. I had to insist before she asked someone to check, and it was on sale. There was no thank-you or have a nice day from her after I paid. In the parking lot I was talking with someone who also had a negative experience in the store when the security guard from Rite Aid came running out, yelling and screaming at another kid.

At first, I thought it was a riot between teenage kids. Then the manager came out along with about six other store workers. One of them had a bat and another had a pipe. The manager had absolutely no control of these workers who were yelling and screaming at this teenage boy and a lady. I saw a man get involved and the security guard pushed him. He fell and hit his head hard against a metal pole.

The manager pulled back the security guard after he pushed the man but I could see the manager laughing while he was holding the out of control security guard back. All I could think was that the security guard should get fired for his total lack of self-control and the manager should get fired for his total lack of control over his workers. They were all out of control. I saw the cashier that waited on me yelling at a woman and then about three other workers started yelling at her too. It was complete insanity and very depressing. I was hopeful for a great new store in Rockaway, but it seems that all the people that I saw working there that day were completely unfriendly, unprofessional, and out of control.

When I came home, I told my husband how bad it was and he said that I should write in to The Wave about it. I never got around to it. But once I saw your article, I felt that I should back up that family who was involved. They were definitely attacked both physically and verbally by the workers.
