SJEH Hosts Luncheon To Honor Volunteers

On Friday, May 2, 2008, St. John's Episcopal Hospital held a luncheon in honor of its many volunteers. Vice President of Patient Care Services Lynore Dupiton, RN, spoke of the number of new patient-centered care initiatives ongoing at St. John's. John Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, told the volunteers how proud he was of their dedication and tireless com-mitment.

St. John's volunteers donated 22,718 hours of community service in 2007. They work in numerous areas throughout the hospital including the Emergency Department, Admitting, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, Medical Records, Human Resources, Ambulatory Surgery, Hemodialysis Center, Imaging, Pastoral Care, Central Supply, Internal Medicine, the patient transport elevator, Dietary, mail room and the hospitality reception program.

The volunteers also represent a variety of community and civic organizations including: the As-sociation for the Help of Retarded Children; the AARP Senior Community Service Program; Rockaway Development and Re-vitalization Corporation; Far Rockaway High School; Bikur Cholim; the Retired Seniors and Volunteer Program; the Stephanie J. Kahn Foundation; Global Business Institute; the Madison Avenue Boys and Girls Club; Beach Channel High School; the Russian American Interpreters Group and more.
